Spend Friday evening and all day Saturday,July 25th with professional photographer John Birchard and boost your photography to the next level. John has been a photographer for over 30 years, and has owned a successful commercial photography business www.birchardphoto.com on the Mendocino Coast for 15 years. John was also a founding member of the Mendocino Photographer Guild and Gallery, and has won local as well as national awards for his nature photography. In this workshop, John will address your interests and skill level by demonstrating simple but important techniques that you can use to improve and expand your digital photography. A large part of the day will be spent in guided tours to some of the most beautiful spots around Mendocino to work on landscape, macro, and portrait techniques. During the afternoon, we will return to John’s studio near Mendocino to go over our morning’s images, and learn how to improve and print them using LightRoom and PhotoShop, and HDR programs such as PhotoMatix. “Our goal will be for everyone to capture, prepare and make a print of their favorite image by the end of the workshop.”

What do you do after your image card is full? How do you back up all your important photos? How do you find that one important photos among the thousands on your computer? How do you prepare your photos for fine printing? ...for Slide Shows?.... for the web? …..for e-mail? The answer is Lightroom! Ron has been using Lightroom since version 1.0 and has really decided that it is the answer to the above questions.
We will go through the work flow from downloading your photos off the camera to all of the modules of Lightroom – Library, Develop, Print, Web, and Slide Show. We’ll point out the best of this program, the problems it has, and how to integrate this program with others that you use.
It is best if you have a copy of Lightroom and a laptop so that we can follow along together, but if you don’t have either, let Ron know and we’ll make some arrangements for you.
